Can Prat 3º 2º

Can Prat,  3º 2º

We start from a large house in the emblematic Gràcia neighborhood of Barcelona. The decision is to segregate it in two, adapting it to current needs. We propose the preservation of the original differential elements, so it is left in view to continue enjoying part of the history of the city, while achieving attractive textures that combine with contemporary materials. The hydraulic pavements, which defined the different rooms and now form rugs, are restored, which help us to limit the spaces in a visual way, located between a new neutral pavement that will give them more prominence. Part of the slab, formed by Catalan volta, will be visible and its shape and texture will be enhanced through light between the slab and the false ceiling. We also undressed the vertical structure, made of a billet wall, which will be bathed with a strip of upper light to favor its staging. The two resulting homes prioritize the common area, providing light and views, and adapting the space to a more contemporary, practical and functional architecture
